Top-Presenters in Economics and Science"FINANCIAL SERVICES 2012 – HOW TODAY’S EXPERTS SEE TOMORROW" 2012 is already a significant year for the financial services sector. As of 1st July 2005 the directive on the taxation of savings interest will be applied within the European Union. From this day on, EU countries will automatically exchange information on interest payments to natural persons resident in the European Union to their state of residence. The Third Party States Switzerland and Liechtenstein as well as the EU member states Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria, will initially not participate in the automatic exchange of information but will instead levy a retention on interest payments made to EU citizens, which will progressively increase until 2011. But what happens after 2011? Will the above states maintain their bank secrecy from 2012 onwards? Will the ever tighter rulings in Europe on professional diligence in financial services leave room for bank secrecy in its current form? 2012 - an important date in the political-economic calendar - poses numerous questions with regard to the strategic structure of successful future business policies. Which currently recognisable technical, economical and socio-political trends portrait the future of the sector - how will the markets and those participating in them have changed by then?
